Tricel Director attends launch of the Institute for Economic and Enterprise Research (IEER)

The launch, which took place on June 28, was held in Brussels. This conference was a result of the collaboration between the European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission Director. The project, which is EU funded, aims to support and the growth of entrepreneurs and young innovative thinkers. To achieve this aim it has an overall project budget of 2.3 million Euro. This goal will be facilitated through the partnership of European business sectors. Mr. Markku Markkula, the President of the European Committee launched the conference, voicing his full support for such a beneficial and worthy undertaking.

Ms. Elżbieta Bieńkowska, the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs highlighted the need to nurture such spirit among today’s growing business sectors. Such sentiment was echoed by European Parliament member Mr. Lambert Van Nistelrooij who stated “The European parliament considers entrepreneurship, particularly young entrepreneurship, very important, so from the Parliament’s viewpoint, the iEER is a pearl among European projects”.

Mr. Con Stack, was invited to attend the groundbreaking event as a guest speaker. Mr. Stack is a Director at Tricel, a leading manufacturer for the Environmental, Construction, Water & Material industries, and has been actively involved with many Enterprise Ireland projects. He was actively involved in the 2015 International Selling Programme.

The International Selling Programme is Enterprise Ireland’s flagship programme designed to equip companies with the necessary tools to reach their export sales potential in today’s global market climate. Mr. Stack was also a Director and Committee Member of KTN, a Skillnets funded Training Network. Skillnets is an enterprise-led support body funded through the National Training Fund. This support body enables grant-aided training for the private sector through multiple industry and regional training networks.

The participation of Mr. Stack, and those like him, helped to demonstrate an array of best practices in relation to the support and development of young entrepreneurs. The conference offered a stage from which to share valuable insights into fostering such entrepreneurial spirit and the development of innovative and new ideas regarding the approach of business dynamics. Over one hundred participants from all over Europe attended the attended the event, ensuring the project will receive strong inter-regional collaboration.

The EU funded project will be a strong resource and offer a means by which to create, strengthen and solidify business relationships across the range of European sectors. This initiative will promote a strongly supportive entrepreneurial climate and fertile ecosystem for the growth of many new innovative businesses.
