Data Centres are large groups of networked computer systems and servers usually used by companies and organisations for the remote storage, processing, and or distribution of vast amounts of data.

These centres are used to store large computer hardware and related components such as telecommunications and data storage systems. A large data centre is an industrial-scale operation and uses as much electricity as a small town.

With the data centre industries near single-minded focus on energy consumption and conservation, another element which is critical is water.

Power and cooling are two of the primary functions without which a data centre cannot function. Water is a crucial component to keeping data centres powered and operational. Due to the heat generated by the computer servers, water needs to be available 24/7 and used as a coolant. Water has between 50 and 1,000 times the capacity to remove heat than air and can, therefore, be far more efficient at cooling hotspots if it’s engineered and implemented in the correct manner.

Companies that use water for their data centre operations must be vigilant of the need for a backup supply in the event of a utility outage. Whether by accident, human error, or by natural disaster damaging the water source, utility services can fail, and when that happens, data centre services will grind to a halt until a secondary source of water gets utilised. For industry and large-scale data centres, this is not an option, and additional water storage tanks and procedures are put in place to eliminate any risk of disruption.

The amount of data processed throughout the world has grown at a phenomenal rate over the last decade. An ongoing increase in volume and detail of information obtained by enterprises, the rise of multimedia, social media, and the Internet all fuel an exponential growth in storing and analysing data for the foreseeable future.

Tricel Killarney won the selection process to manufacture and install two separate sectional water storagetanks for the telecommunications industry in Frankfort. As a leading exporter of water storage tanks, we understand international markets and provide our customers with a much sought after technical expertise for cold water storage solutions for multiple industry sectors. Our extensive manufacturing capabilities ensure fast turnaround and delivery with the additional option of installation crews to assemble water storage tanks onsite.

The water storage tanks are an integral part of the adiabatic cooling process used by data centres. Tricel manufactures primary and secondary cold-water tanks to integrate within data centre cooling systems.

Our sales and logistics teams offer extensive knowledge in pre-shipment inspections and technical expertise; we work alongside our customer to ensure the process from sales order to delivery is a seamless operation.
