Mike Stack Announced as Finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year 2014
Tricel managing director Michael Stack has seen his efforts in growing the Killarney based company recognised with news of his nomination in the international category for the 2014 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Programme. Following on from the rebrand of Killarney Plastics and other companies within the group to Tricel in March the news of Michael’s nomination continues the run of success for Tricel, as the group goes from strength to strength both in Ireland and further afield.
Mr Stack’s nomination in the international category sees him lining up amongst leading Irish entrepreneurs, with the selected finalists emerging from a host of nominees spread across Ireland and other locations including California, London, Frankfurt and New York. The EY Entrepreneur Programme celebrates business leaders who have made a notable impact in their field, and with Tricel now employing over 250 people across businesses in Ireland, the UK and France, Michael’s nomination is a fitting recognition of the sustained growth and success Tricel has experienced over the past number of years.
As well as the international category in which Michael Stack is nominated there are two other groupings, Emerging and Industry, vying to claim the top prize in this year’s programme. All 24 finalists will travel to the United States and Canada at the end of May for a week-long CEO retreat taking place in Seattle and Vancouver, with the winners of each category as well as the overall winner being announced at a Gala Awards evening taking place in Dublin in October. The overall winner will then go on to represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur of the Year in Monte Carlo in June 2015.
Speaking of his delight upon receiving the nomination Michael Stack said: “This nomination comes at a great time for Tricel as we have recently entered a new era for the company, and to be recognised in such a way gives everyone working within the group a massive boost. I look forward to meeting my fellow nominees, working with them over the next few months and learning from them. I am fortunate in the fact that I am part of a family company which was built with solid foundations by my parents Anne & Con Stack, enabling us to expand our horizons and view future progress with a clear sense of direction. As the excitement builds over the coming months leading up to Octobers awards I am certain that every member of the Tricel group will continue to work hard and achieve success, because without their efforts I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.“
