Septic tanks, an introduction to the Tricel Vento

Overview

This market-leading product is known for its high strength and its blow moulding technology, which is one of the most advanced processes. The Tricel Vento Septic Tank is dimensioned in adequation to your needs. It needs to be followed by the appropriate disposal system (percolation area). The waste water treatment process inside the tank works in a way where the water discharge (the solids) will end up going to the bottom, forming a sludge. Once the solids have been separated from the soon-to-be treated water, this one can go through the outlet pipe for its final treatment.

Septic Tanks: what are the different treatment stages?

Inside our Septic Tank, the waste water treatment has to go through three different stages, all necessary to ensure a high water quality.

Stage 1:
Wastewater flows by gravity into the tank and is diverted downwards with a T piece where the solids and heavier material settle to the base of the unit. A small amount of anaerobic breakdown occurs at this stage.

Stage 2:
The lighter solids float to the top and form a scum and an outlet pipe fitted to the unit ensures that only the liquid element flows into the percolation area. This specifically designed dip pipe prevents the scum from passing into the percolation area which may result in blocked pipes.

Stage 3:
The effluent exits the septic tank for its final improvement as it penetrates through the specially designed percolation area.

Septic tanks maintenance

For its optimum purpose and also for a strict respect of the Irish regulation, maintenance and desludging are essential. It is your responsibility as a homeowner to ensure that the system does not cause pollution, a health hazard or nuisance to the environment.

On a monthly basis: the outlet distribution box should be checked. Effluent has to be clear and able to flow. You also need to verify the vents by making sure that the grass isn’t covering them.

Maintenance

Every year (depending on usage and house population, it can vary): to avoid any flooding and issues with the percolation area, you need to make sure to desludge the solids so they won’t rise to the height of the pipes and pollute the rest of your wastewater treatment system.

For more information about Vento maintenance, you can download the manual.
