Tricel acquire Glasplies Ltd. and expand their UK Fibreglass Distribution Network
Tricel’s latest acquisition is that of Glasplies Ltd. based in Southport in Merseyside.
Glasplies Ltd., which is the latest addition to Tricel’s rapidly expanding portfolio, is one of the longest established independent suppliers of Glass Reinforced products (GRP) in the UK market. The Merseyside based company has more than an impressive half century of experience supplying quality products and service to all aspects of the fibreglass supplies industry.
As well as supplying the more traditional elements of the fibreglass industry, such as boat building and moulding, the company also supplies specialist applications such as roofing and other facets of the industry. This acquisition in Merseyside is a prime location to act as a distribution gateway between the company’s already established presence in both the Northern and Southern regions of the country.
Tricel’s Head of Materials Division, Robbie Larkin, commented on this latest acquisition by stating “we are delighted to welcome Glasplies to the Group. The acquisition of Glasplies is part of Tricel’s and the Materials Division’s growth strategy. With over 50 years’ experience in fibreglass distribution, Glasplies strengthens our position in the fibreglass market in the UK and Ireland. With this purchase comes the wealth of experience and insight which Glasplies Ltd. has developed and earned over many years of successful operations. Such elements and attributes are highly prized and can only add innovative value to the development of Tricel’s overall operating strategy within the regions”.
Earlier this year the company acquired Fibreglass Supplies (Leeds) Ltd. which is one of the UK’s leading distributors and suppliers of roofing and composite materials. Along with these latest acquisitions are the company’s existing distribution centres in Newry and Gloucester, ensuring Tricel maintain a strong and strategic presence in fibreglass distribution throughout both the UK and Ireland.
Consequently, this move is the most recent in a series which the company has undertaken in order to move forward with its growth strategy which is gearing towards 2020. As well as expanding its fibreglass distribution network, Tricel has also extended its Environmental Division in recent months. This was facilitated through the acquisition of a second manufacturing facility in the South of France in order to a meet growing demand for the extensive range of Tricel products.
Tricel is today a world recognised brand which has grown in strength year on year from its beginnings as a small but successful family owned Irish operating business. It has evolved to become a global provider of highly innovative solutions for various industries with operating facilities in over 5 countries, and a distribution network which serves over 50 countries worldwide.
