Camping Moenbroen
The challenge
Camping Moenbroen was established in 1962. To begin with, the campsite used the areas on the old pier and along the water between Færgehuset and the bridge, which is today the garden of the farmhouse. But due to the conservation of the historic entrenchment near the house, the campsite was moved to the areas where it is today. In 2015 the campsite was renovated, and at the same time, the number of pitches was increased from 80 to 135 pitches.

The campsite is situated beautifully on the northern coast of Moen at the sound of Ulvsund, with a view to the southern part of Zealand. The island of Moen is connected to Zealand by the “Queen Alexandrine’s Bridge”, which is one of the most beautiful bridges in Denmark.

Before the system was installed, the wastewater was discharged into the sea. The system has fluctuating flows, summer (full capacity) and winter (almost nil). The controller has been updated to the latest version with HMI and automatic settings adjustments which can handle these better. It also saves a lot of power for the customer.

Why should Maxus be the wastewater treatment plant for a caravan campsite?

A commercial wastewater system is installed at a camping site with a capacity for 130 caravans and a house for the owner’s family. The customer owns both the camping site and the farm where it is located, so he installed the septic and buffer tanks himself.

As most of the equipment could be installed by the customer and was based on standard units, the solution was cost-effective for him.

In addition to being modular, the commercial wastewater system is easily adaptable to fit in confined spaces or meet other needs. Loads and flows can fluctuate without affecting the treatment level. As a result, it’s very suitable for seasonal and off-season applications. The camping site is closed during the winter, so for six months, only the wastewater from the farm enters the plant, approximately 5PE.

Running efficiency

The Tricel Maxus commercial wastewater treatment system is suitable for seasonal or constant loads. To ensure optimal performance, the control panel (4) automatically adjusts in response to incoming loads. As part of the settlement process, wastewater is treated in the settlement tanks (1 above) before entering the buffer tank (2).

We use floats and, a timer, two pumps inside the buffer tank (2 above) even out the flow. The floats inside the buffer tank send a signal to the control panel. In turn, the control panel sends a signal to the air blowers to ramp up or down based on the actual flow.

This way, the customer saves on both pump and air blower running costs (electricity) and increases their lifespan.

The wastewater is pumped into the treatment plant (3 above) and a clarifier following the buffer tank.

A versatile technology which can adapt to different loadings or effluent strengths.

We can find suitable options for everything with the Tricel Maxus. Due to its flexible design, we can add more treatment zones and clarifiers to meet site requirements (such as low BOD, nitrogen, phosphorus, and even E-coli).

Power is distributed and controlled by the Standard Control Box, where all electrical components are integrated and connected. The Control Box is placed in an external weather-protected shed. The plant usually is powered with a 340 Volt, 3-phase power supply. On request, systems can be supplied for regions with 110V power supplies.

A complete system can consist of multiple modular units installed in either series or parallel.

Trucks and standard shipping containers can fit the system narrowly. It is essential to take precautions during unloading to avoid damaging the equipment due to impact.

The installation is straightforward and effortless, as you can see. Concrete groundwork is not required except for a concrete slab at the bottom to serve as a foundation. The system is installed directly in the ground

Feedback

The treatment plant meets requirements, although the load from the camping site has increased significantly since the system was installed. Furthermore, they’re very pleased with the upgrade of the controller, so the system doesn’t use more power than required.
