Commercial wastewater in Camping in Denmark
Date
July 13th 2015 (five days installation)
Location
Camping Moenbroen in Denmark
Project Type
Commercial wastewater treatment plant (caravan park)
Tricel solution
Tricel Maxus wastewater treatment plant 50PE – 3 chambers
The campsite is situated beautifully on the northern coast of Moen at the sound of Ulvsund, with a view to the southern part of Zealand. The island of Moen is connected to Zealand by the “Queen Alexandrine’s Bridge”, which is one of the most beautiful bridges in Denmark.
Before the system was installed, the wastewater was discharged into the sea. The system has fluctuating flows, summer (full capacity) and winter (almost nil). The controller has been updated to the latest version with HMI and automatic settings adjustments which can handle these better. It also saves a lot of power for the customer.
Why should Maxus be the wastewater treatment plant for a caravan campsite?
As most of the equipment could be installed by the customer and was based on standard units, the solution was cost-effective for him.
In addition to being modular, the commercial wastewater system is easily adaptable to fit in confined spaces or meet other needs. Loads and flows can fluctuate without affecting the treatment level. As a result, it’s very suitable for seasonal and off-season applications. The camping site is closed during the winter, so for six months, only the wastewater from the farm enters the plant, approximately 5PE.
Running efficiency
We use floats and, a timer, two pumps inside the buffer tank (2 above) even out the flow. The floats inside the buffer tank send a signal to the control panel. In turn, the control panel sends a signal to the air blowers to ramp up or down based on the actual flow.
This way, the customer saves on both pump and air blower running costs (electricity) and increases their lifespan.
The wastewater is pumped into the treatment plant (3 above) and a clarifier following the buffer tank.
A versatile technology which can adapt to different loadings or effluent strengths.
Power is distributed and controlled by the Standard Control Box, where all electrical components are integrated and connected. The Control Box is placed in an external weather-protected shed. The plant usually is powered with a 340 Volt, 3-phase power supply. On request, systems can be supplied for regions with 110V power supplies.
A complete system can consist of multiple modular units installed in either series or parallel.
